About the event
Step Into a Uniquely American Story | Wing Luke Museum
The King County Fire Chiefs is proud to host an evening at the Wing Luke Museum. In our journey to continue to learn and grow as individuals, it is important that we take the time to educate ourselves on the many cultures that our communities serve.
This evening is about understanding the history of AANHPI (Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders) history. We will learn about the AANHPI waves of immigration and the present day communities. We will host a panel discussion with leaders from our community. The panelist will discuss the biggest challenges/fears of seeing someone in uniform, how we can connect better with the AANHPI community, and the cultural barriers to engaging the 911 system.
During the evening, attendees will be split into two separate groups. Half the attendees will begin with an educational lecture and panel discussion, while the other half will begin with a lecture and transition into tours led by docents around the Wing Luke Museum and the CID. The groups will switch halfway through the evening so that everyone will be able to participate in the entire program. Registration on the day of the event starts at 5 pm, please arrive promptly, as the program will begin at 5:15.
Please come out and join us are we increase our knowledge to better serve all of our communities. There are no costs for the event. Please register because space is limited. We hope to see you there!
